------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) What inspires you to make music?
People who put 100% into what they want to do! Making music often isn't something you can plan, it just happens as a result of something that's happening in anyone's life, in the world today or just how you felt picking up the guitar that morning. Personally I'm inspired to do well, to play well with the guys in Ketimine Deco and to make music that I enjoy playing, and hopefully you'll enjoy listening to.
2) How would you describe your sound?
Our sound i think echos that of older classic rock bands, bands like Deep Purple, and Rush, we try and keep it sounding as real as possible and put our all into it everytime. everyone is a fantastic player in this band so we put out a sound that portrays this. a classic guitar, rythem driven, rock band.
3) What's it like playing live?
the best feeling ever! I've played over 100 shows with various bands and they all, wherever they are fill you with the same feeling of excitment. its a chance to really prove yourself, show everyone what you got and to really sink into what some of the songs really mean, connect with the people you are playing with and with the audience. Playing in Ketimine Deco beats them all though! a real trip, and a good time!
4) What can you promise the crowd at The Ironworks?
A show, thats what we always promise, the Ironworks is a fantastic venue, with no limits to what can be done so it gives us a lot of breathing room. We played there last year with the legendary Wishbone Ash and it ruled. But this time, its with our good friends Stolen Order and we really are going to take the place to school. the crowd at the Ironworks is going to get a show of two hard working rock bands delivering their blends of punchy energy driven rock performances, and its not to be missed!!
5) What's your background How did you get into music?
Personally, i started in classical music and playing with Pipe Bands, but in my early teens i was completely drawn in by watching some of the most classic bands throughout history, bands like Queen, Eric Clapton, Deep Purple and Whitesnake. Picked up a guitar and set myself a mission to be the best I could be, I come from a real musical family so my mum and dad were really supportive. Jason Martin, the bass player in Ketimine Deco and I have been playing together since we were around 13 or 14 so we have sort of progressed together. Music is something that everyone can contribute to, and I've just worked as hard as i can for the last 5 years to get as good as i can get and surround myself with players who give the same energy and commitment to being in a band, and making the most of what it can do for you.
6) What are your ambitions?
For the band, Ketimine Deco, just to keep driving fast no matter what happens, our tour with Bad Company got cancelled earlier in the year which put us on a big downer, but with our recent performance with Nazareth in Wishaw in July, the battle4Bella contest, and the upcoming Nairn and Ironworks shows we really are as active as ever. We are writing a lot of new material and working on our performance so that we are giving our best at every show. For the future we'd love to get the new material recorded and get it out there, play as much as possible all around the country, and look into expanding outwith the UK to play in other countries, every day is a school day with music and the music business.
11) What's been the best moment of your career so far?
Personally, I've been lucky enough to have recorded and worked with a lot of members or ex-members of a lot of Musics most famous bands like, The Ozzy Osbourne Band, Uriah Heep, Del Amitri, OMD, Marieann Faithful Band, Sharleen Spiteri Band, Van Morrison Band, and loads more which has really been fantastic and huge learning points for me, but our (Ketimine Deco) recent performance with Nazareth was really something. I've been a fan of Nazareth's for years and when they came on during the night and singer Dan McCafferty thanked us over the mic for our set, that was really a mind blower for me. I hope every gig we do will be better than the last, we're a hard working band, so hopefully a lot more 'best moments' to come
